During the course of this class I have been able to actively use the information I am learning to assist with my professional world! Many of our current projects revolve around expanding our reach and building better connections with our stakeholders. So much of the class has directly affected my ability to contribute towards these goals. It has been such a boon to be able to take the content I am learning, practicing in class, and then use it the next week at work.
I was able to address the areas of expanding our reach and building better connections with our stakeholders by beginning to build a professional learning network through Twitter. A large population of computer science educators in Florida are very active on social media, and I have made it a goal throughout the course to reach out to as many as I possibly can. In general increasing the number of people I am connected to has increased my reach, but I found the greatest affect on increasing my reach was actually achieved by improving the quality of the connections I had. I reached out to have discussions with many of the people I connected to, made a point of discussing how I could assist them, learned their schools needs, and even got to attend a training with some! By building these connections and building their trust in my goals and knowledge the number of people willing to share content I posted increased! I may never be the best or most efficient Twitter personality, but I can most definitely say now understand why everyone but me was using Twitter!
